Our Mission

Kim Ploussard, LMHC and David Pettie, ACSW, LCSW, Co-founders of Relationship & Marital Counseling, PLLC, Albany, NY | Teaching People to Grow In Love
Hi, we are Kim Ploussard and David Pettie. We are grateful you have come to our site to learn about us and
our mission of ‘teaching people to grow in love’!

We each have a private practice where we’ve helped hundreds of individuals and couples using a unique model of coaching and therapy that provides a more intensive experience. We also work together leading workshops and retreats that address the normal cycle of relationships going through connection, disconnection, repair and reconnection. We attend to issues of self-esteem, boundaries, trauma, sexuality, affairs and addictions. When necessary, those patterns that come from each person’s family of origin are addressed to help deepen and sustain new skills taught throughout the course of therapy.

In addition to our business relationship, we are married partners for over 30 years. We have deeply explored what it means to use our relational challenges ‘to grow ourselves up' and deepen our capacity to love and stay ‘in love’ throughout the life span. Hence our passion to create a practice specifically designed to ‘teach people to grow in love'. In doing so we have had many mentors along the way: David Schnarch and Ruth Moorehouse; Pia Mellody, Terry Real, Mimi and John O’Neil, and the entire faculty at Margot Anand’s Skydancing Tantra school. Throughout our marriage, we have attended numerous couples enrichment events: Tantra to Love, The Passionate Marriage, the Awakened Heart School retreats, and The Making Love Retreat. These were deep dives both into ourselves and each other to expand our practices and grow in love.

We believe creating love within the self will deepen the love within the couple. This love then goes out into the family and the community. Here is what participants have said about our relational enrichment Community Nights:
